Friends,

I just read this at Christian Post:

The Rev. John Hagee, a televangelist and pastor of the 17,000-member Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, endorsed McCain at a news conference.

“John McCain is a man of principle,” said Hagee, citing McCain’s anti-abortion voting record and his support of Israel.

Hagee is a leader among Christian Zionists and has argued vigorously from the pulpit and in writing for Israel’s right to settle disputed territories.

His endorsement of McCain follows grumbling among other conservative Christian leaders who have suggested possibly running a third-party candidate because of continuing discontent with McCain. Some hope that former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Baptist pastor, might still mount an improbable comeback.

But Hagee, who gave Huckabee his pulpit for a Sunday in December, said Wednesday he believes that if McCain emphasizes his support for Israel and his 24-year record against abortion, reluctant evangelical voters will be coaxed into the McCain camp.

All I can say is: WOW! This is simply astonishing! John Hagee must not read very much if he things McCain is a ‘man of principle.’

But what is worse is this line: “…Hagee, who gave Huckabee his pulpit for a Sunday in December…” (my emphasis) Huh? I am no liberal, but that has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever read. What right does any politician have to go into any church and ‘take over a pulpit’?

This is, in my humble opinion, fraught with all sorts of dangers. Politicians have no place in the pulpits of churches. This tells me, however, far more about Mr Hagee than it does about McCain. And I was already suspicious of Hagee.

For the record, in case anyone is listening, Hagee’s endorsement of McCain does more harm than good from my perspective. I am suspicious of Hagee’s theological point of view, his dangerous Zionism, and the fact that he surrendered his pulpit to a politician. You know, Ralph Nader may well have a chance in this election. There is no Republican getting my vote and there is no Democrat getting my vote.

Where in the world is Ross Perot!?!?

no politician has the right to a pulpit… but Hagee said he gave it to Huckabee….it is the pastor’s right to give it to whom he will and answer to God for it….

Thank you, Pastor Hagee, for standing up for the truth! Freedom of speech gives any pastor to stand up for what is right! The thief comes to kill, steal, and destroy. But God comes to give you LIFE, and give it more abundantly! Give life…not take it away! Any Christian who is truly born again will answer to God for their vote this election! There is one canditate who is for abortion and one who is not! Abortion kills a baby, destroys life for the mother emotionally and takes life from the baby (stealing life)…this is the enemy! It’s a choice who you’re going to support as a Christian voter! We CAN make a difference! Just do what is right! Vote the Bible!

  3. Carol,

Yeah, heard it all before. The world will fall apart if I don’t for such and such a republican. I will not answer to God for my vote or for my lack of a vote. You don’t display a very deep understanding of God’s grace or what Christianity and the kingdom of God is about. If you think faith hinges on a vote for president in America then I truly pity you. Instead of counting on the government to solve the problems of this world, I suggest you put your faith into practice and trust God. Neither McCain nor Obama will do anything to halt the tsunami of abortions deaths that occur in this country or around the world each year. Only God has that power. If I am to truly ‘vote the bible’ then I must reject all human candidates for the president. I’m sorry you think one is more righteous than the other. They all only want power and your money–and neither of them is interested in the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ.

If Hagee gave a politician the pulpit, or tried to convince his congregation to vote for a particular politician, he has crossed over the “separation of church and state” line, and should loose his tax exempt status. The Feds need to investigate this.
After much studying, I have come to the conclusion that neither political party support the teachings of Jesus.
One if for war and killing, while the other is for killing of unborn babies, and homosexuality. They are both sinful.
Hagee is just as bad as either political party or Hitler. It is his wish that millions of Jews never receive Christ.

  5. Stan,

Hmmmm….well, I’ll have to give that some thought. I agree that Hagee isn’t as loving of the Jews as he wants us to think, but I don’t know that referring to him as Hitler helps resolve anything at all. Thanks for stopping by.

Oh no, please don’t take me wrong. Hitler was out to only take the Jewish peoples lives. Hagee, by preaching that they have a free ticket to heaven and there by don’t need to accept Jesus, is condemning millions of Jewish people to hell.
Which is worse to loose, ones soul or life?

    Stan

  7. Stan,

Ah, yes. I see your point now and I agree. His doctrines concerning Israel and the Jews are rather dull and stupid. It’s too bad there’s not much we can do to stop him except complain here in the blogosphere in the hopes that maybe someday someone will slap him awake. You seem to be suggesting that Hagee is, uh, worse than Hitler. Am I reading you correctly?

I believe John 14:6, ” Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. ” and interpret it to mean that no man will go to heaven unless he accepts Christ as his savior.

John Hagee believes that Jewish people will go to Heaven without accepting Christ. He calls this, “duel covenant theology”. I believe that he is causing millions of Jewish people to not accept Christ.

Since he is refusing to attempt to save the souls of the Jewish people, he is in effect condemning them to hell. Also, Hagee seems to want to bring about nuclear war in the middle east.

So we have someone who tells a people, “Oh, you don’t need Jesus” and “lets bring about your end soon”.
No, that doesn’t seem too nice to me.

If he cared for the Jewish people, he should be trying to get them to accept Christ.
